Carbonesque
Most of my builds are commissions from clients who choose their own spec and colour schemes, but not this bike. It was purchased as a part built project from a friend who just lost interest, and was a perfect opportunity to indulge in a look that's been in my mind for a while. I wanted a dark, moody look with a nod to the JPS racers of the '70-80's (black and gold) but with a modern twist, all 'Carbon' body work, wheel rims and top engine cover.
It's not actually real carbon fibre, but a Hydrographically applied finish that's been expertly done by my pals at Wicked Coatings in Poole who are great custom painters too. It fools a lot of people and I love it.
Here's the spec of the rest of the bike:
Based on a '77 R75, it's now 800cc with the later Nicasil barrels with new rings. Refurbished heads with new valves and guides. New later type clutch and flywheel for a lighter action. New timing chain kit. New lighter, smaller more powerful starter motor. New electronic ignition. All new seals, gaskets etc. All black engine with polished alloy detailing.
De-tabbed frame and swinging arm , blasted then powdercoated in satin black. Wheel rims 'carbon fibred' and laced with stainless spokes. New Grimeca front disc, new pads , rebuilt caliper and new Goodridge stainless braided hose. Refreshed forks with new seals and thicker oil. New Dunlop 'Street Smart' tyres.
Our own SRC rear subframe with integral under seat battery tray and splash guard. Smaller Gel type battery. SRC single race style seat with custom pad.
Billet alloy clip-ons with new levers, master cylinder and twin pull throttle. New chrome steel headlamp held by billet alloy brackets.
Custom alloy rearsets. New black and gold gas charged 'piggyback' shocks with ride height and preload adjustment.
New stainless headers with satin finish, mated to short black 'peashooter' silencers.
Extensive electronic upgrades which include a Koso combined digital speedo/ analogue tacho . Motogadget three button billet switches, M button and M unit controller. Oberon billet alloy bar end LED indicators with integral mirror. LED 'bullet' black alloy rear indicators. LED rear 'cats eye' tail light. Custom wiring loom.
Stainless steel fasteners throughout.
